Welcome to my eclectic journey of my life and delights. This year my theme is surrendering my writing pen to the true author, Jesus Christ, while looking forward to the future, reflecting on the past and dancing through my journey.

The Dress

In less than five months my "only" daughter will become a bride.  I will wear the title of "mother-of-the-bride" only once.  She has made me so proud to be the "mother-of-the-bride".  As we venture forth in this once- in-a-life-time journey we continue to be humbled by God's faithfulness and provision.  The testimonies can already fill a book.

She played the role years ago in my own wedding dress.  She isn't your lace and ribbons girl...she was comfortable in softball and basketball uniforms.                                                                                       Our Ellie May Clampitt will marry her John Wayne/Rambo.

Yet when it came time to shop for her wedding gown, my tomboy daughter, because a lace wearing bride-to-be.  Benjamin watched as his "sissy" tried on dress and veils.  May I say he wasn't silent on what he liked.  He even adjusted her veil and commented on how it needs to be and which one he liked.  He and I both gasp as she stepped out in the dress that would be the winner.

In just a few months she enters into the most important covenant of her life.  She will also move away from her family to begin a life in a small city.  Life will take the biggest change in her lifetime....and for that matter, in mine.

This is my wedding gown and hat!

The Dress will be embellished with lace from her grandmother's wedding dress and mine.  She will be given away by her dad, me and her brothers...which is her request.

I smiled at the future for my daughter....all the hopes and dreams...all fulfilled in Christ.  Benjamin and I took pictures as she tried on dresses, which can't be seen yet, but I know our pictures will not hold a candle to the day she becomes a wife.

Revelation 19-7-9

Let us rejoice and be glad
    and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
    was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)
Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

The ultimate wedding is still to come, may we each make ourselves ready.

Beautiful! My daughter wore my wedding dress in a play! Ha ha! Come to think of it, it's a little grubby around the train area. I guess I should get it cleaned.
Your daughter will be a wonderful wife. She's had the BEST model!
Congrats to all of you! What a fun day you have to look forward to!

This brought tears to my eyes because we also only have one girl in our home of all other boys, too. The idea of her being given away by her brothers would be something my firstborn and only girl would also want to have done! She adores her brothers. Oh, my heart was right along side yours in every single sentence in this post. What a host of emotions your way these days. You might just fill that book after all! Blessings to you dear friend in the Lord!

Well, I got all teary just looking at your daughter as a beautiful little girl and imagining her as the beautiful bride she will become. I am so happy for all of you, Janette. I think your daughter and son (on the stairs) favor little Benjamin. All of your kids are gorgeous, like their parents!
Hugs & Blessings~

Such a beautiful time. She sure was a cutie pie wearing your dress. I recognize the style very well. Now where are you wearing your wedding dress? Your lovely daughter will be a beautiful bride, a wonderful wife, and continue to be an amazing daughter and sister. Life is good. God is Great.

Oh Janette I am just so happy for you and your daughter as you go through this wonderful season of preparation for her wedding day. I remember the day Melody found her dress too. Soo much joy is hard to contain huh? I love that lace from yours and your mother's dress will be on the dress too. Soo special. Mel was a total tomboy too and worE WAY more sports uniforms than dresses over the years. And yet, she too chose lace and pearls for her day. I love that you are ALL giving her away as well. Such a good idea. How far away from you will she be living? Hope everything is going well. HUGS!

What a happy event to brighten your days. I had to pull out my Experiencing God workbook to be sure I was quoting correctly. I did it almost 7 years ago and thought it might be time to give it another go round.

I too have only one daughter, and her wedding day was one of delight and tears. It is hard for a mom to let go, at the same time we are so proud of the young women they have become. Yes, I too intend to be invited to the ultimate wedding feast!

I also love this verse from Revelation that speaks of a white stone and a new name which is what most brides receive as they enter into the covenant of marriage.

Revelation 2:17 ... I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.

So many things we do in our wedding ceremonies are reflections of the actions of God towards us.

Your little girl is beautiful and will be more beautiful on her wedding day just as we become more beautiful when we become one with God.

Congratulations to all of you--I know you will be a beautiful mother-of-the bride.

What an exciting time! The daughter who was a tomboy wants to wear a lacy wedding gown; too cute. Cherish every moment of this time.

Hi sweet friend, Oh how well I remember this season-going to look at dresses and all the planning. As excited as we moms can be, there is a bit of sadness too, knowing our girls will fly the coop and make a life on their own. You have done an excellent job and I know you will stay so close. I can't wait to see the wedding dress photo and of course hear how the Lord is working on all the details.
Hugs, Noreen

I'm such a wedding groupie. Really, I just love to read about them and attend just as many as I can crash without losing all sense of respectability. What an incredible joy to be mother of the bride.

She's precious in yours. The picture just must make it into reception decor. And I love that she's incorporating lace from the other dresses.
