Welcome to my eclectic journey of my life and delights. This year my theme is surrendering my writing pen to the true author, Jesus Christ, while looking forward to the future, reflecting on the past and dancing through my journey.

A Different Script

Penning the writing of a different script in my life continues.  I see the magazines, I hear the stories and I have been to the weddings.  The mother-of-the-bride helping with each detail, enjoying the shopping, the dreaming, while dollars flow from some bank account in which this day had been planned for since her little girl since birth.  I have heard all that is to done by the Bride's family for the bride.  I know the planned script well.

Our script is being penned differently.  There was never an account for a future wedding.  The savings accounts have long been emptied in order to live.  There wasn't any plan.  Day to day surviving has been the script we are living at this time in our life.

Our daughter and future son-in-law came to us early in this play expressing that they would pay for all of the wedding.  For two non-college graduates this has been a large undertaking.  For me, my heart just sunk.  I would have to lean on the author of this story in trust.

As my daughter tried on dresses I couldn't allow the attendants to know that our budget was very small and NO! I would not be buying the dress.  My daughter would bounce into each establishment not letting dollars keep her from her dream.

The script isn't being penned the way I would have written....the author of the script has known all along the beginning, the middle and the end of this story.

She found the dress of her dream.  The dress alone would pay for a nice wedding. As we walked out of the Bridal Boutique I said, "well you are going to have to find it."  Within minutes my daughter had searched the internet and found one.....1/3 the cost.  Another bride had two wedding dresses.  Her mother bought one and her grandmother bought another...she was to pick which one she wanted and sell the other.  The other bride's  abundance became the answer to my daughter's pray.  The author of the script wasn't surprised.

The venue for the wedding was another dream.  We knew the figures this place charged...our daughter had worked there for years.  God also knew our hearts.  If we had the money for this wedding there wasn't a question where it would be. The author continued His story.

Milestone in Denton, Texas

Sunday night two very humbled and grateful parents went out to the venue for food sampling.  Our daughter will have her wedding in this magical place.  The owners had given her and her groom-to-be a wonderful discounted price and their labor would pay the rest of the tab.  Two Christian men, owners of the place, heard God and blessed our family.  I know the author enjoyed adjusting this part of the script from my version...."we are blessed to be a blessing to others", is being walked out by these wedding venue's owners.

There are still tons of details to be worked out.  I will not be able to throw a Bridal luncheon. She didn't have a shower given by any family members.  There wasn't any "Save the Date" cards.  The list ever presented to Brides these days will not be checked off.  The budget is very tight.  The author isn't surprised, nor does He expect this to affect the blessings He has in store for this Bride- to-be. If He can be Father to the Fatherless, He can also be the Provider for a Bride.

My script was changed.  The author remains the same. He knows what He is doing, even when this mother says, "Why Lord?"  He knows the plans He has for this couple,  Jeremiah 29:11.  I only see what the world tells me is my responsibility, I only see in part....I miss the whole picture....He does not!  I am rejoicing in watching the author change my worldly script to His heavenly script....He is dealing in the eternal.  I can truly say this wedding is given to my daughter by her Heavenly Father....and that Heavenly Father blessed my husband and I, His children.

I cannot help but think how pleased God is at being given the opportunity to help...we are such a self sufficient society we have lost our need for God...on every level. But the reality is all of use have great need of him. Not just his blessings, but his presence.

Thank you for sharing this...she will have a beautiful, memory full wedding!

Oh this is so like the Father. I think He is very interested in brides and knows all about them. A very special post, Janette.

Oh Janette how it blesses my heart to hear how the Lord has worked out these details for you all. And you know what? Now this is just my opinion, but weddings are soo out of hand any more I think, and they put soo much stress on everyone that it is honestly just kind of silly. My youngest son's parents gave her 5000 dollars for her wedding. At the time I thought there will be NO way they would be able to pull off such an enormous celebration with just 5000 dollars. But they sure did! And they invited 150 people! They got married at her church ~ free, had the reception in the giant hall ~ free, had it catered by a friend ~ so a great price ~ had the wedding dress made by another friend, a beautiful dress another great price, but one of her largest expenses ~ No save the date cards, very simple invitations, flowers were paid for by the us (grooms family responsibility ~ we have done this 3 times) as was the rehearsal dinner, the photographer gave them a giant discount, NO video, her girlfriends gave her a BEAUTIFUL shower, NO bachelorette party and on and on it went. And honestly it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been too. They were like a fairy tale couple, and have been married 11 years now. When God is involved the celebration is fit for a King's daughter! I have been to MANY elaborate weddings with every little detail perfect and exquisite, only to hear the couple broke up a couple of years later! Soo sad. Too much importance placed on the wedding, and not enough on the marriage I think. Your daughter has been blessed by the example of her parents and their lives and will no doubt have a wonderfully blessed marriage. I am soo glad you have been involved in the planning, and choosing of the dress etc. etc. Memories you won't forget. I look soo forward to seeing pictures of all this eventually Janette. Enjoy!

Sorry for the length of this I get carried away on this subject!

Oh this touches my heart so much, Janette. If only we can step back and let God do His magic! Instead of trying to MAKE things happen the way we want, all we gotta do is just trust and show up for the party! I know the Author of this story is just beginning to pen this happy ending, and I'm looking forward to hearing "the rest of the story"!!! So excited for you all!

What a wonderful tribute to the Lord. I am so blown away that God has provided so many things for you and you have been given the joy of seeing God at work. I totally hear you about not thinking it would be like this. God still does do miracles and I am so thankful that He is doing what He does best. You are so wonderful to be keeping track. Some day your daughter will look back at this and just be amazed.
God is so good so glad you shared today.

'What an "AWESOME" Father! Giving your daughter her dream wedding, and allowing her parents to rest in Him. You see I truly believe God is a God that gives dividends on His investments, Years ago He invested in you and your dh, and you both have taken this investment and multiplied it many times over for Him, and He is now giving dividends on that investment.
OH! HOney his ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours, Question? Now how many girls get two new wedding dresses? None that I know, but He has it all planned out, I can hardly wait to see what else he is going to do!! I am so excited. Continue to do what you are do best, resting in Him and touting His praises to the roof tops! I can just visualize Him sitting on His throne with a smile that stretches from one side of heaven to another. Hold my horse while I shout!!!

Please tell that handsome soon to be Uncle Benjamin hello, and that a handsome photo sits on my shelf, and He is lifted up in prayer daily.
Much love
Sue

Trust in the Lord -- that's what I got from your post today - you are totally trusting in the Lord to get through this event.. We ran into nearly the same issues with our only daughter when her wedding pop into our lives.. (the up's and down's of life is with everyone. Her wedding turn out not her dream nor mine but it was a wonderful forever after day and I know your daughter's wedding will be just right as well - I feel you show the faith and you have the hope -- you will be taken care off in the way that's best.. Thank you for sharing.. Can't wait to see the photos of this special day.. If I was near I would have liked to give my services and take tons of snap shots of this day -- Hugs

Neither of our daughter's weddings were "traditional" by the world's standards. But they were beautiful.

I've seen SO many beautiful weddings that ended up in tragic, sad marriages that an expensive wedding was NEVER my "dream" for our little girls :)

Clearly you have raised a fine young woman here....She sounds resourceful and thoughtful. I KNOW God will continue to delight her with His love and show Himself faithful to you, your family, and the NEW one about to be formed :)

This reminds me of The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson:
"Nothing honors God more than a big dream that is way beyond our ability to accomplish. Why? Because there is no way we can take credit for it. And nothing is better for our spiritual development than a big dream because it keeps us on our knees in raw dependence on God. Drawing prayer circles around our dreams isn't just a mechanism whereby we accomplish great things for God; it's a mechanism whereby God accomplishes great things in us."
Your daughter, Janette, is awesome. And much of that speaks of her parents.

Oh Janette, God is so good! It's amazing to see how He is handling the details. You go to Him with your need and believe He hears you and will answer. By faith you move forward. You may not realize it but your experience is encouraging to me in so many ways. Thank you for sharing.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

I had a similar situation when I got married. I watched the author pull a wedding together for me and my Handsome. I was grateful for each and every little thing that came together. I think I was more thankful for my beautiful, sweet and humble wedding than I would have ever been if I was given the most grand of all weddings. Your dd sounds like she too is soooooo thankful for what the Lord is doing dispite the odds. She is truly blessed.

Blessings and ((HUGS))

I have not been able to visit my blog friends as often as I would have wanted the past months.

But you have been on my mind.

And now that I have a bit of time, I thought of dropping by your place, a surprise visit... but as I read the words of this latest post of yours, I felt goose bumps, and then I read the rest of your story with misty eyes.

Rejoicing with you... ever trusting in the goodness of the One who writes the stories of our lives.

When is the wedding?

WIshing you beauty, joy, and an abiding sense of peace this new year.

"It is better to give than to receive." I've heard that more than a few time over these past financially difficult years from beautiful givers. "Don't deny us the blessing!"

Continue to keep in mind the utter delight you are allowing the Father! I'm convinced that as we are blown away be his generosity... He is simply.. delighted. And you are giving your daughter something so much greater than a wedding. You are (once again I'm sure) reminding her where to look for perfect gifts. I love the way you share what the Lord is teaching you (and everyone who is wise enough to visit here).

Blessings, Debbie

I am reading this with tears in my eyes. I've been away, as you probably know, and I am trying my best to get caught up with friends this morning.

I relate to this so well for reasons that you also know. I am amazed at what the author of that script has already written for you.

Sometimes, people ask me how I can be amazed by Him so continually. I guess they think that I should *expect* such wonders from such a wonderful God. I happen to disagree with those who think like that. I think being surprised by God's greatness is part of the blessing and that my delight is His great joy.

I hope I never get tired of being surprised by His provision.

I will very specifically pray for more wonderful stories in this script.

Do you have any idea how much you encourage and inspire me?

Boy, Janette - this one really touched my heart. I'm thinking that the Author still has some wonderful surprises up His sleeve before this wedding finally happens.

And it will be a beautiful wedding - because you WILL see your daughter's face shining with love and happiness...

GOD BLESS!
