My Chickens

I have so delighted in fellow bloggers displaying their wonderful pictures of their chickens and their coops.  I can say they would all win awards in my book.

So this Saturday I thought I would invite you into my city, postage-stamp-sized backyard, neighbors within sneeze distant...my chickens, that are approved for my current dwelling.

Yes this is my first one, bought by my husband, framed in red.  Her title is Mr E Tudman's Partridge Cochin Hen, "Titania", she won first prize at Birmingham in 1870 and 1871
Her companion hangs right beside her.
Buff Cochin Hen named "Blossom" Bread by Mr H Tomlinson....she didn't win any awards.
Below them stands a glassy looking fella.
Wearing a little thin from her falls from her high perch, she guards the kitchen.
He has conquered them all, so he stands cocky from his coveted position on the island.  What can I say, this is a male dominated household.
If the good Lord ever wills for me to have some of these that are alive and a dressed-up coup...you can bet your last dollar (no I don't believe in gambling, just a saying I learned as a child) I will share them with you. For now, they don't produce well, but the clean up is a cinch.

HAPPY SATURDAY! For all the Texas and Oklahoma residents - GO HORNS!!!

You have a wonderful sense of humor Janette. You're an encouragement to me. Cute chickens! And I know how Texans are big on their football. I watch Friday Night Lights after all. So Go HORNS!

Love you,
Debbie

LOVE the chickens! I had roosters in my kitchen a couple years ago. We since switched to a cafe theme but I kind of miss my roosters :o)

I love your chickens! I loved them all. Besides, no mess, no worry. They stay where you put them. You don't have feathers all over the place.
Yeah, nice chickens.

Chickens are such beautiful birds! I've collected them in the past. I had porcelain Mr. and Mrs. in my kitchen for some time!

They run wild on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, did you know? They're everywhere! In the grocery store parking lot, walking around town, on the beach...

Your collection is wonderful, Janette.

Thank you for sharing your chickens with us! Thank goodness there is no cleaning up with the kind you have!

My dad used to clean out the henhouse when he was young, and just a couple of years ago, the doctor found a shadow on his lung. He had to have surgery to remove that shadow, and we were very afraid he had lung cancer. What a relief to find out it was some kind of fungus that he had gotten while cleaning out that henhouse so many years before! God is good!

I had rather be cleaning the coop of the 102 hens and 7 roosters I once enjoyed, than dusting the only ones I can have in our present location as well!

However I know that I am exactly where God has for me to be!

Blessings,
Sherri

What a great "brood"! I have a good-sized rooster lamp. It was a ceramic project that my grandmother made (ceramic). It is a treasure to me!
