Water in the Dry Places

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Is.43:19

I heard a pastor speak about  watching  what is happening in the physical realm  and you can see what is happening in the spiritual realm.  From that point on I have watched. I will watch the titles of new best sellers books, the top movies, the trends and even the weather.

We drive over two very large bridges on a daily basis.  Benjamin asked me why they were built since there isn't any water underneath them.  For a couple of years now our area has experienced a drought.  Drought exposed things that were hidden.  This once lake area dry land revealed dinosaur tracks.

Our churches are packed...even turning away those who come to hear the message...and yet, our land is dry.

As I pray for the physical rain to hit our area I also pray for the spiritual rain.  Rain that will soak deep...not just pour and roll down into the gutter.  Spiritual rain that will go deep into the spirit and bring transformation.

How easy it is for us to be used to being feed at the tables of our churches and not go deep into the Word ourselves.  How easy it is to know the Word and yet, not let it transform our lives.  How easy it is for the me not to be the salt to society....a dry desert instead of a place of nourishment.

Lord I cry out for our land to be soaked in your natural rain and your spiritual rain.  Continue to make me see the signs of our society around me and intercede..."thy Kingdom come".  Lord begin with me!

  1. Your churches are full? That is so encouraging to me. So many of our churches are nearly empty. Another good and meaty word, Janette. All I can say is amen and oh me.

  2. Janette, this impacted me greatly. It could have been a message that came from one of those *packed* churches! Powerful.

What convicted me the most was the part about knowing the Word, and yet not letting it transform our lives. I will remember this as I read God's Word - I will take the more time to let it soak in, and bring the spiritual rain that this thirsty soul needs.

    GOD BLESS!

  3. This was a GREAT post Janette! How true this can be of all of us at different points of our life. Where we sit back and let ourselves be spoon fed the Word, but don't practice feeding ourselves, and definitely not letting it bring about REAL transformation. I am right there with you...start with me Lord!

    Have a wonderful week-end!

  4. Good word for all. I'm reminded of a pin I saw on Pinterest the other day that talked about not just knowing about the Lord but developing a real relationship with Him. If we don't take the time, and sometimes it's hard, to study the Bible and then get quiet and listen for what the Lord has to say, we will stay in the same place spiritually, never growing. And that means never being able to help anyone else or point them to God. To minister to another we have to receive ministry from Him for ourselves first.

  9. Yes, the river banks are low even up here in the Pacific N.W.
We need to be refreshed daily.

Let it rain and let us be transformed.

  15. Wow, Janette. What a timely and needed post! We do need spiritual and physical rain, although here in Idaho, we have been getting plenty of moisture in the physical sense, but we sure need the spiritual. As do all of us, across the nation, across the world. Praying with you.
