Teenager in the House!!!

Today I am celebrating my teenager!!!  He is seventeen and when he smiles at me, through his braces, I just grab the chance to store the smile in my heart.  This week we will venture into the world of driving!  As we fill out all the forms to start behind the wheel in my tank....I hear this song going over and over in my head.

Wayne Watson wrote songs as he experienced life with his sons and to this day I treasure the repeated memories of those songs.  Watercolored Ponies to Teenager in the House, he reminds us of the joy of parenting.  If you have a chance....listen.

Here is my teenager son cleaning the bathroom....and yes, that is the mop!!  He thinks this is the best way...I just laughed and took a picture.  It is his bathroom, I don't have to use it.  How fast they grow.

  1. If a teenage boy is cleaning the bathroom, take it any way it comes:) I can't believe how time is flying!

That is really memory making. Will he ever live this method of cleaning down? Priceless, indeed.
I agree, at least he cleans.

  4. Great photo op! I can see your son is very creative by the way he obviously thinks outside the box when it comes to cleaning methods. :)

  5. I think boys just naturally know how to drive. Seth got behind the wheel and it was like he'd been driving all his life.
As for cleaning his bathroom...wow! Amazing!
I remember those Wayne Watson songs. Whatever happened to him anyway??

  8. Janette,
Teenagers are fascinating to me. As my daughter once very wisely said,
"We can't help it, Mom! We aren't human yet!"
I love the way they think and the ideas they come up with. I hate that there are so many of them struggling. My heart goes out to them. It is a blessing to love my daughter's friends, and encourage them.

  9. I am soooo impressed that he is cleaning his bathroom! Now that kid was raised right! LOL!
PS Good luck with the driving. My 17 year old has had her license a year and I still stress when she has to get on the freeway.:)

  13. I may take a tip from him! That has got to be an easier way to clean the shower...not sure about the counter, though.

  14. Oh, I so remember the song, "Water Colored Ponies." That brings back so many memories!

Good idea, using a mop, he may be on to something!

  16. I love this. All three of my teenage boys held down the house/farm this past weekend while we went to see my daughter in Va. They did a great job! They make me laugh and smile, too. Thanks for sharing this!

  21. Hi Janette!

Aw, it'd be nice to have a teenage boy in my house again... sigh... I loved it when my boys were home. Our house was the place where all the friends came and hung out and ate all our food. It was wonderful!

LOVE his cleaning method! Hey, at least he's cleaning!

  22. Cheers for your son cleaning his bathroom. Happy driving lessons!

  23. I remember those days...seems like a long time ago now. My youngest is now approaching 32. Wow. Interesting cleaning technique. I am with you on the mom discretion. Getting a teenager, especially a boy to clean the bathroom is a feat in itself and nothing should be said to discourage the effort!

  24. You raised your son(s) to clean the bathroom! Aside from the fact that he is a handsome teenager and that you also raised him in in a home that pointed all things to the Lord Jesus Christ, the bathroom thing might be my favorite thing about him.

It's just cute that he mops the counter. Betcha Benjamin copies that little move.

    Happy Birthday to Him!

(Now, I need to go back and read to see if I missed a post while I was away. )

  26. While in middle school Logan came home and said, "In class the teacher was asking about things we'd done. He asked how many of us had cleaned a bathroom and I was one of only three that raised my hand." I hate cleaning bathrooms but I hate it more when it is dirty. Kudos to your son for doing his part!
