3. Informal To be in a state of anxiety or agitation. See Synonyms at brood.
n.
1.
a. A dish cooked by stewing, especially a mixture of meat or fish and vegetables with stock.
b. A mixture likened to this dish.
2. Informal Mental agitation
Yes that is where I am.....I am stewing! Mental agitation. I think agitations can be good, as well as bad....so my stewing has both. But as we all know, a stew not seasoned and allowed to tender is a horrible dish to eat, yet, when allowed to cook slowly it brings comfort to the soul.
I am stewing, so the meat can tenderize, allowing the delight of the dish to come forth and not a hard, chewing mess to eat.
Here are the ingredients in my stew that need to be simmered to perfection.
- Meat.... Hubby will find out this week if the contract for the job he has had since November will be extended....if not, well the meat will be hard to swallow for me. I am sure the Master Chef has something up his sleeve to make this meal more edible, so I stew in faith.
- Spices that add taste...Daughter found her first "home", so we are off to pick out paint and let her start nesting. She will have it ready for them both to live in after their honeymoon in March.
- Vegetables that add nutrition ...College son has found him a new apartment and will be venturing out for good....leaving the last two boys to dream of what they want his room for....Lego City or Music Studio
- Broth that allows all the ingredients to come together...I have now read two books that seem to be speaking the same thing to my spirit. I am not sure what it all means, but I feel the Lord is telling me something. I really need time to let it simmer.
- Flame to cook on....Convictions that the Lord is bringing to the surface. It is always amazing that during a season of "Transition"...yes, my word for the year...things can be brought to the surface that need to be addressed
So during this "Stewing" season I might need to purchase some "duct tape" for my mouth. I need to let things simmer in my soul....so the outcome will be a stew that comforts and doesn't disgust the palette.
I have warned you..............so please, when stopping by if you see some bones that I have discarded...give me grace....I am still STEWING!!!!

What a great post! You have me grinning. How you've turned such a challenge into a positive is wonderful and just like your Father Who does the very same thing when we allow Him to do His thing. Praying for you, Janette. Praying for God's very best for you and your family.
Great post, friend! I will be praying for your husband.:)
What a wise woman you are. You will have the most amazing stew because you are letting the maker make it. If we leave it to him then it becames a master Piece. [o= I know the stewing process well, lol.
Blessings and ((HUGS))

Will be praying for you and your husband. Lots of changes going on in your life right now, I know how hard that can be...I can so relate to the duct tape. The thing about stew is it can take awhile to cook, it's not a quick meal but then I think you have already figured that out. Appreciate your willingness to be open about your struggles and your desire for the Father to continually change your heart
Toss ME some of that duct tape, Girl! I've got me a pot on over HERE, too :)
Writing from the heart always encourages me and you do it so well.....Since you have followed the instructions we have been given as to handle life's issues, then I am sure your stew is going to be tasty and a wonderful aroma for you as well as others to enjoy....
I think the reason duck tape is cheap is that God intends for us to use it often......I think I need a new supply....
Oh Janette how I love how you write out your thoughts! This was just soo good, and soo true. I have found myself in the stew pot much more often than I am not. And like Maryann said, a stew is NEVER a quick meal, but takes time to reach just the right degree for tenderness and taste. I am praying for you and your hubby. How exciting for your daughter to begin her nesting, and having her creative mom there to help is just the icing on the cake. Such a fun time for her. HUGS
Janette, this was so good! I loved the analogy - you developed it in such a teaching way (and it was really cute and fun, too!)
I am also *stewing* - a long, low simmer in a crockpot. Bones aplenty lately. But, as you said, the Master Chef knows what He's doing. I know it will turn out to be a very tasty meal.
GOD BLESS!
Hi Janette! You are smart to stew. There are so many decisions and opinions that take time to cook.
Yay for a cozy new apartment for the bride!
Ooooh, girl. Duct tape is sometimes a good thing while the stew is stewing.
You are so wise, Janette... God will make this stew a rich and savory one. Saying prayers... blessings ~ tanna
I love how you say things.
Word pictures and your feelings all melded together. It makes you think and entertain all at the same time.
You do have a lot of things in the pot. I'll be another one who is saying prayers for you and your family.
I so LOVE the way you worded your post today! Lot's going on in your world...YET...it's so comforting to know that NOTHING surprises our Heavenly Father...and he's already gone on ahead....making a way! JOY!
Praying for you...during this season...and resting in knowing...it's only a 'season'!
Blessings,
Kim~
Much meat for me to stew on, too.
A wonderful, heartfelt post! I am always amazed how much God allows the bands to be stretched when He places us in transition and of how He never allows them to be broken, only fitted to perfection so we are able to do what He calls us to do.
Praying for you and your family.
Pleas give my sweet Benjamin a hug.
Much love, Sue
Your spirit always inspires me. Prayers for your husband's job and your family.
He's cooking up the best stew you've ever had! :)
Thanks for the warning. :) I think I'm stewing a bit myself these days so I empathize. Maybe I could use some of that duct tape too!
Now I could use some of that too..I mean the FOOD - wink -- same boat as you.. o the wait..if "duct tape" for my mouth - then what's for the thoughts...wink!
All the best -- and hugs
i love that you're stewing in faith! see what
you have already made of your ingredients?
wisdom and wit blended with a lot of prayer
and grace.
i am praying for your husband's job to not
only continue but to increase!
Janette,
Thank you for sharing your heart, which is beautiful.
I think about your posts many times after I read them.
Stewing in faith is the way to stew, since our faith is our shield that quenches EVERY fiery dart of the enemy.
I am still praying for you and your family. I love your analogy, as usual. Your honesty and sense of humor always inspire me and we could all use a little duct tape from time to time. :0)
You are just good, plain good in your writing. I, too, love all the analogies that you use. Perfect time of year to be talking about stew. :o) Praying for God's best for you and your lovely family. Blessings!
I love this post. Stew or Stewing does come in different ways doesn't it. Hope all works out for your husband's job. All this talking about stew is making me hungry... off to eat something.
What a wonderful post and great metaphor. I get your previous car post too. So fun when we can be transported to the past. You have so much going on right now, you are so right to let it all simmer as you process and see what the Lord has for you in each situation. May His grace be abundant.
Great thoughts. I really like what you are learning this week and yep, I need the duct tape thing too.
Have a great week!
mmm. very good post, Janette. loved the duct tape idea. I need a roll of that. Maybe 2 rolls.
your nest is emptying. are you sad? (ha, or glad!) :) I certainly was a little bit of both.
A little while ago my hubby just said, "Stew or Chili?" Now chili is simmering (sans beans, of course - We're Texans!), but I find myself stewing with you. I've sensed God concocting "something" over the past several months, but I have yet to fully understand it. Gotta simmer awhile. You were in my prayers this morning - and you continue to be. I know what I hope for your husband's job situation, but I'll trust that I can be grateful whatever happens. After all, what I really want is God's absolute best for your family! Only He knows what that is...
I love the way you placed all these ingredients into the "stew". So very true. I loved your comments about transitions (needed to hear that)and then duct tape. (Advice I should take) :)
Janette - This is "sage" advice indeed, that we often need to let things stew a bit, before we comment upon them.
God may be brewing up a whole new purpose that we have not yet identified - kind of like what my mom used to call "mystery stew". :)
I love this!!!!absolutely love the way you used stew to write this post. At first I thought great a recipe...but you've given a life living recipe. Hugs Janette...you helped me start the day great.
