Diamonds to Dots

There comes a time when you just have to step your big toe across the line.

For this "follow-the-rules" girl, who even follows all those unspoken rules, just thinking about stepping my big toe across even an imaginary line....well it pushes my comfort zone.

So began my adventure on transforming my laundry room. One of those unfulfilled "to do" creative ventures on my January list.

Back when I began cleaning and decorating our house Sonja coined the phrase for me
Janette's Diamonds on a Dime.
Well I have exchanged the diamonds for dots this time.

Who says you can't paint a washer and dryer?
Who made us think we just had to keep those ugly, yet wonderfully working appliances, so boring?
Now I do know some are beautiful now days...but mine are plain and  still in good working order.  I even posted once on how we fixed the dryer through visiting You Tube.

I started to see dots and words!

Well I am still working on my laundry room...so far I am having fun. I am bringing in my kitchen colors of turquoise and red.
One teenage boy came through the house and said, "Mrs. Wright, do you know someone has graffitied your washer and dryer?  Now Benjamin did help out with his happy face, which my Ethel told me not to cover up.

Is it time for you to step your big toe across some imaginary line?  Why Not?

That is so cute! Does it really stay on? Because I'm thinking spray paint and templates is the way to go if not. Teenagers say the cutest things!

Sandy said...

Ha! I love your polka dots! Might even make doing laundry fun! Do they actually stay on??

Elizabeth Dianne said...

I think you got your whole foot across that line! ha

I am a "rule follower" also so this will inspire me to look for a line to cross--

Have fun doing your laundry--

After raising three sons who played every sport imaginable and sometimes two in one season, it seems like I spent at least a third of my life in the laundry room. Might as well make it bright and cheerful!!

Oh as a fellow gal who doesn't like to throw a toe over a line, I LOVE this...soo cute and creative. I love that you let Benjamin's face stay on. Perfect. I have this feeling I'd love to go on a tour of your whole house. Hope you are having a good day. HUGS

Oh, Janette! This is BIG! You should patent this idea - or is that even possible anymore with technology????

Oh, my toe has gone way over the line at times. It has been awhile, though. Thanks for the inspiration!

I am so stealing your idea!! I think I'll have the funnest looking washer and dryer in the neighborhood! xo

Hi Janette!
I am really smiling at your new laundry space!
It's so fun! So smart to encourage a smile instead of a grumble as you approach the laundry room!
My washer/dryer is in the basement which is just a plain ol' basement... no frills. I love looking at pretty laundry spaces. We do have a stackable in a closet for my Dad ... and use it for small loads.

I think of you and your friend, Sue, often. Jason is doing well. He loves his job and enjoys living in Texas. My husband has been down there to visit him more than I. He is mostly retired and can get away easier ... We went together last June and loved it!
Jason came home for Christmas and it was sooooo goooood to have him home.
He still goes to Austin Stone and we occasionally listen to their sermons online.

I am continually thanking God for your help in his move to TX.
God bless you, always,
Maria

fun, fun, fun!!! did you see the pin about the "loads of laundry means my family is near me". I bet Benjamin did not know what to think when MOM first shared the DIY project. Loved the comment from the older one too.

Hey Janette! First of all, thank you SO much for the words of encouragement in the comment you left on my blog the other day. You have no idea how much they mean to me.

Second, how FUN are your washer and dryer now!? I never would have thought of that in a million years. Now, you know though that if your youngest son takes a sharpie to any other appliances, he'll be modeling what he saw mommy doing. :) Love it!

Oh boy!

Me and the husband have one big *line* that we're thinking of crossing. It's a big old decision. We are praying for God's guidance, and so far He's been telling us to step out in faith.

Big toe is across the line - now I'm thinking God is asking us to leap!!

Cute idea on the washer/dryer. And I LOVE Sonja's phrase. Seriously, Janette - have you thought about making some money with your wonderfully creative ideas??

GOD BLESS!

My laundry is very boring and very small - it needs a lot of help!!! what a great idea and how creative. A gold star to you:)

I am really, really late to this party! You'll probably have another post up before I click publish. I'm so turned around this week that I missed this.

(As a side note, I travel down my blog home page one day and up it the next. Do you know where you are? RIGHT in the middle. J for Janette. I need a new system.)

But back to your big toe and its laundry adventures, I LOVE THIS. I love the little sayings you wrote on there the best of all. My favorite is about the most memorable days ending with the dirtiest clothes. That's so true, even in a family of girls.

You are so creative. I would rather read a blog from a creative decorator who gives me DOABLE ideas than hear from a top end designer any day of the week. Clearly, I'm not alone since you always draw a crowd.

Some how I missed this post until tonight. This is just too much fun. I need to do this to my dryer-really fun-my washer is new (well two years old) so I think I need to wait on that one.
This is just so cute. I had the cutest boarder in my laundry room in AR-it was clothes on a laundry line and I loved it. I need to do something with this white boring room in our house here. You once again have inspired me to do something fun.
Love ya
