Welcome to my eclectic journey of my life and delights. This year my theme is surrendering my writing pen to the true author, Jesus Christ, while looking forward to the future, reflecting on the past and dancing through my journey.

You Sure We Aren't in the 70's?

Our adult children get a good laugh out of my husband and my expressions of time.  My husband can say, "oh I used to do that," which in our adult children's time clock would mean in the last few years, whereas, in my husband's  time clock it might mean 20 to 30 plus years ago. Hubby and I  might say, "oh that was just a while back.", which to our adult children would mean last week, while we might be referring to sometime in the last decade or two.

So as I strolled through the movie theater with Benjamin on our way to see Cars 2  I was stopped in my tracks.  There was a very familiar movie.  My mind raced back in time to my first viewing of this classic.

No wonder I can get so scattered brain when it comes to time....I mean,
what was old is now new again.

The Three Musketeers

I think this was  the first movie I saw without my parents, but with peers.  I was in Jr High and I went with a group of girls and boys.  That group of friends and I all turned 50 this year.

Three Musketeers.....2011
This is the movie that stopped me in my tracks and sent me time traveling.

Now this changed everyone's hair style!!  1976 to 1981

Charlies' Angels 2011

Now this is just one television re-make and one movie re-make....I haven't even started to mention music and clothes.

So next time I think I have traveled back in time...it isn't because I am showing signs of dementia  or menopausal brain fog, but for some reason our society is taking us back.  I can't complain, even if I don't like the re-makes, the memories of that time period are treasures.

You you ever experience Deja Vue or time travel also?

Yes, but it has ever been thus. My nan used to regularly say, "Oh, that's what we did or we had that song, too." My niece is currently sporting her great-grandmother's haircut circa 1921. ☺

Oh the original Charlie's Angels look so much better. I still love their hair. It reminds me how we should save our things that go out of style because some day they will be back and our kids will be looking for them :)

All the time! I tell my girls that their generation is clearly UNcreative since they keep having to borrow bits and pieces from mine. Ha!

You just gave me one of those "moments" by mentioning early outings to the matinee with my friends in middle school (or whatever it was called back then)

The movie I remember most is "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" with Kurt Russell. Now, that was a teen heart throb in my book. He nearly reached the level of David Cassidy but not quite Donny Osmond...

Stopping now to remember. The clothes, though, are something I would rather forget.

Nothing is as good as the original hahahahah
of course my Mom could say that as well as.......

I just about dropped my teeth when my daughter came over in a"sheath" and enamel pin that was almost identical to ones I had in high school and college....

What goes around comes around applies to more than just actions.....

Have a great weekend....

Don't you just wish you would have held on to some of the 'ugly' seventies, eighties things you got rid of? With 2 daughters it's weird.. we go shopping and I look at some of the styles and say, "I used to have one just like that." Of course I say it with my lip curled and my girls are loving it all!

I think what freaks me out is to go clothes shopping with my daughter. I hated those clothes when I was a teenager and I hate them even now. She of course loves the style. I remember my Mom telling me she should have just kept her clothes from when she was a teenager.
I don't know but I kind of like the hairstyles in the Charlie's Angels for 2011.
I just saw the previews to 3 musketeers the other night. Who knew?
As Solomon said, "There is nothing new under the sun." It was nice to read though. :)

I can do you one better! Older, so it has to be better, right??

When I was in high school in California, we went to Hollywood Blvd. one night and sat in a tiny little pub or restaurant, and watched a very young group on a tiny stage. Their name was The Beach Boys! We thought they sounded wonderful, and then alter we cruised up and down Hollywood Blvd. One of the girls had her dirvers license, the rest of us didn't. :)

I am an oldie but goodie!! :)

I have to laugh when people are calling the 70's vintage...I guess I am vintage then, LOL. Ohh yes I do have to laugh at time repeating itself and I have to admit I am not sure why we are repeating the 70's style. ( I didn't really care for it)

I had to chuckle on the definition differences between us and the younger generation. [o;

Janette, I guess it is so true, what goes around comes around, again and again and again. Sadly, I do not have good memories of the 70s. I want to forget that decade entirely, and unfortunately that expands to the era's clothing, movies and especially the music. And yet, I must make one exception. I loved and still love the movie The Three Musketeers! Great post, however.

I've made the comment "what's old seems to be new again" many times in the last couple of months.
The clothes in particular, I remember wearing this same kind of stuff when I was a teen. (didn't like them then, don't like them now)

I'll be really, really scared if they decide to remake Hop-Along-Cassidy or The Cisco Kid! Worse, if Howdy Doody returns I'm outta here!

What I do find delightful is the music of the 50s & 60s. So much of it was just so fun - - from greats like Frankie Lane or Perry Como, to the DooWop sounds, and even the Beach Boys. They can play that stuff all day long now and I'm 16 again.

I used to think everything my parents did was old fashioned and out of style. Now I am the old gal wanting to bring back a little of my past and I look at the things my parents did as way cool.

The seventies. The eighties. Strange times, fashion wise. It is interesting, though, to see our kids liking the same things that were so "happenin" back then!

Funny!! I see fashion and "fads" come and go with my teens.... but if I mention anything about me having the same clothes/trends... they laugh and ask for proof! And proof I have!!!
This was fun!
Thanks Janette..... hope all is well!

Oh yes...deja vu.
I agree that the memories are a treasure...I like the originals much better. I still feel like a teen-ager whenever I find a re-run of a charlie's angel's episode...my girlfriends and I still call each other angel...and have permanently changed each others names...I'm kelly...always had her hair - and my buddies jill and brea are still by my side..."forever angel's" is what we call ourselves! Ha! Silly, but ah yes the treasured memories! :)

(p.s...re my peach recipe -I just like the flavor of white peaches for cooking and baking - my taste preference only--any will be great).

It is kind of crazy isn't it? LOL! Some of the clothes' styles are very 70ish, too!

Did you like Cars 2? I loved the first one (have watched it dozens of times with my grandson). Amanda decided that she though the second one was geared too "old" for Alex (he's two). So, now I've lost my excuse for getting to see it! LOL! blessings ~ tanna

Thank you for the trip down memory lane. When you read my blog, you realize that! It really is so interesting to see styles come and go, especially when I see things from the 70's come into style again! I just loved the 70's! Obviously, someone else thinks the 70's were great also with the remakes of many 70's TV shows! :)
