Living in a Understanding Way

Designing Women - show in 1986 - 1993
I have these hormonal moments at different times that bring about the ready to flee instinct.  I guess that is better than the fight instinct.  I am glad I know the source and these too will pass away.

So on Friday I woke up and said, "this isn't a good day!"  My husband heard the despair in my voice and the frustrations of not being able to overcome these feelings.  My husband's marriage verse is

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. I Peter 3:7

Hubby was also leaving for an out-of-town trip leaving me behind with a continuously talking, energetic five-year-old and a teenage boy who needed to be ready for a mission trip by Sunday.  He gently knew what would lift my spirits and re-energize me....besides it was on sale.

He jumped in the car to save the day and run to the 40% off sale at.....................have you guessed yet?  What would be on your list?

To Sherwin Williams he fled to purchase four gallons of paint!  He knows what energizes his wife.  Now I am sure that didn't top most of your list or even make your list, but that is the uniqueness of knowing one's wife.

Oh Friday I painted the family room, the first coat of my kitchen baek-splash and the 1/2 bath.
Saturday I painted the walls in my exciting new sunny, cheerful and energetic kitchen.  Later I re-arranged the furniture in the den and hung new sun-giving blinds.

The flee hormones just left and went sailing away as I created.  My energy level went through the roof as I changed my environment.  The excitement of a completed project kept me up until 10:30...when I normally hit the bed by 10:00.  Then I plopped down on the couch, turned on the TV to unwind, flipped through the channels and there was Designing Women....I just had to laugh.

Wise husband left for his trip with a happy wife taking care of the home front.

HERE IS MY HANDIWORK OVER THE WEEKEND! Sorry all you photographers...I am not one.
  • Repaint all the gold walls - the wall to the kitchen is in Accessible Beige, other walls Grand Canyon Tan

Finished Project in Family Room - Still no staging...and pictures still missing

Okay...just boring plain paint...but it did change the atmosphere and at 40% off,
Now here is where the fun came in.  Half bath was painted a green...which I also had 11 years ago in our home....but now time to go!
I wanted to continue to use the pictures that had been stored in boxes for three years...so I had to find a way to combine both.  I took the paint from the Family Room and painted all the walls....this pulls both rooms together.  Then I grabbed a old friend....a stencil!

I Love It....Husband Invested Well!!
Now I am off to finish more painting the kitchen....it is my fun room...I will probably post hints before it is ALL finished.
Happy Painting!!  Then off to the sewing Room!

How wonderful...I do not like to paint, but did do my living room and dining room a few years ago..what a difference a little paint can make:)

Oh my! We are such opposites. Having that kind of a project to do while hubby away would send me into a deep dark funk. You, on the other hand, soar! Wonderful job, Janette. And how nice to have things more the way you enjoy them. It all looks fabulous!

You are too funny! My Mom is the same way. She LOVES to paint. Me...not so much. Don't get me wrong. I like it to be painted, I just don't enjoy actually doing it. LOL!
You did a great job, Friend. And the bathroom is beautiful.

I'm past those horomonal days-but if I could get as much done as you did during your "moment" I'd take a day of it back!
You are a real whirlwind. Compared to you I feel like a deflated ballon!

I'm having an anxiety attack. You did all this in a day? And when I get hormonal I just sit and stare? I'm definitely not showing anyone this post. But I'll still love you.

Oh I love it. So sweet of your hubby to do that knowing that it was something that would lift your spirits. It look wonderful. I love to paint too, it is amazing what a little paint on a wall can do to change the whole look of a room. My husband hates to paint though, so anytime you want to come down and paint I'll let you. :) Can't wait to see the kitchen-I may have to make more towels to send you to match-:) Happy Day to you!! Brandon made out well, he didn't feel so great yesterday but is doing better today. Thanks for your prayers.
Love ya
Jill

Everything looks beautiful,Janette.
I am about to start the downstairs
guest bath. Have to prime the gray
paneling first then I plan to use
the same taupe we used in the
living room. Should be pretty. I
get super energized painting and
decorating too. Your hubby sounds
just like mine. Real keepers, those
two.

Your home is beautiful, Janette! I love everything you have done! I also love Designing Women. I was sad when the show ended and one (can't remember her name) passed away. I am the same, when I am down, I need to do something - create. Works every time. Thanks for sharing with us!

Look at you go! Amazing what re-directed hormones can accomplish. Paint is almost a miracle, isn't it? It transfers the mood and feeling and light of a room in relatively easy fashion.

I'm glad to see that these projects are livening up the big move...

GOD BLESS!

Beautiful, Janette!! I used to love to stencil, and you did such a lovely job. You are doing great at making your house a home!

I'm crazy about it all! I really love the stencil idea and the colors are terrific.

What I love most is that you figured out a way to chase the hormones away and that your very UNDERSTANDING hubby got it just right.

Everything is becoming HOME, isn't it?

What a lucky husband . . . he buys you 4 gallons of paint, leaves on a trip and comes home to a freshly (beautifully, too) painted home and a happy wife.

Fondly,

Janette,
It is amazing how little it takes to make us happy! Just a gallon or two of paint, and off we go!

I loved this post... and you are a good painter indeed.

Your husband could read the signs, and being the wise man that he is, knew what needed to be done.

Will be waiting for more pictures of your accomplishments!

Love
Lidj

You did a great job on the decorating. And why didn't I think of ripping up the master bath and redoing it when my husband was out of town for two weeks. Oh, yeah, at my age it would've taken me ten weeks to do all by myself. Guess I'll have to keep bugging him until he can help me with me...and he's home so I'll start buggin'. Neat house!

lookin' good!!!! I know...I finally bought a power washer from someone that was moving at a great deal...HAD SO MUCH fun power washing our back patio a couple of weeks ago. I'd been asking for a power washer for my birthday and nobody believed me! Mowing the yard used to do it for me, but not any more ;( Your home looks just as warm and inviting and comfortable as the one you had in Shady Hollow. I wish I could figure out a new color for my kitchen since I am tired of my dark olive green.
