Welcome to my eclectic journey of my life and delights. This year my theme is surrendering my writing pen to the true author, Jesus Christ, while looking forward to the future, reflecting on the past and dancing through my journey.

What Was I Thinking?

In a moment of total insanity I confessed to "Ethel" that I was bored!  Life just seems  less eventful than when my house was full of four teenagers, with five children playing sports, taking music lessons and home schooling.  My gas tank stays fuller and the calendar can be kept in my head.  So for a short period of time, probably given to me by God for rest, I had the notion that I was bored.

To recap my first two days this week and to STOMP  that notion to the ground, I will list our days back on our fall schedule.

  • Apartment questions from adult children, paint, bills, moving
  • Two college students phone calls on class schedule, financial aid question, jobs, health
  • Husband with new diet requirements and sleep schedule...oh, my, can we say "hard"
  • 9th grader needed to finish a weeks worth of work in two days to attend "Fish" camp with friends at church
  • 4 year old decided to paint his face pink with purple dot...they weren't waterproof
  • Husband trying to get resume out to find a job to support family
  • Fire threatened to burn up our neglected, but much loved camper in storage area
  • Fall Baseball sign ups...now to refresh the weak skills...batting cages in 100 degree temps.
  • Clothes clean, packed and all school work finished and get son to "fish" camp
And to think I said I was bored!  I think I will keep that comment to myself from now on and RELISH in any time that the Lord allows me to feel an ounce of boredom!!!

How is your week going?  Do you have time to get bored?  Has God given you some REST time?  If so I would encourage you to enjoy your slower pace...who knows what tomorrow will hold!

Oh yes the "I'm bored" words. Almost like "there is nothing to do". I am trying to get ready mentally for the school year and I am tired already. lol.

haha...I enjoyed this. I look back sometimes too on those days that were soo full it was hard to even have a moment to think... But a few days with grandkids and I QUICKLY remember why you do all that when you are young, haha...There is 13 years between my oldest and my youngest so there was alot of time when my oldest boys were out on their own and I just had the younger two to deal with...how easy that sometimes seemed in comparison to all 4. And yet, now that the youngest two are long gone too, it is often times quite quiet. But "most" of the time I LOVE it. And when I am needing some noise and confusion and busyness, I have my grandkids over, haha...ENJOY your day. HUGS, Deb

Bored ...I think NOT!

OK, who's Ethel? My mom's name was Ethel and she hated it. But since it was my mom's given name I love it. I just wouldn't name a child Ethel. :)

Thinking of you and praying for you,
Debbie

That's a darling photograph of your son... what a looker! (And maybe a budding artist?)

It sounds like your husband's health is a concern.

Seasonal transitions to new routines always wears me out... can't say I'm "bored" at all!

Silly girl-what where you thinking? lol
Hope this week is a great one. We are gearing up to start school on Monday when the boys go to school.
I am excited but also tired and fighting a cold that just snuck up on me yesterday. Yuck.
The paint spots thing-sounds so like something my kiddos would do-had to chuckle at that.
Happy Wednesday!

First of all, your son is a
living doll!! So kissable!
Second of all, enjoy ANY time
you have to rest. It is a gift
from God in my opinion!
Enjoyed the laugh!
Bless you,
Sandy

I can't remember the last time I thought I was bored! I'm trying to teach my kids that there is no such thing...if you are bored, find something to do! They are pretty good at keeping themselves occupied.

Love this! And I guess you've figured out from my "not so funny farm" post that life here has yet to be dull! I DO pray for boring but the Lord has other plans for me these days! ;-0
Good luck w/all you're juggling! Wish we were closer and could support each other more than just "virtually."

sorry it was such a hard week. i
will be praying that your husband

What an adorable picture of you son, and love the word in front of him....laugh, oh how we need more laughter.

No boredom here these days....but God has certainly given me rest this summer, although in a way I never imagined.

Every now and then we need those days to just be still. With 6 kids...there aren't too many of those days, are theere?!

Enjoy them when they come. Loved your post. :)

My head is spinning just looking at your list! Glad you can find peace in the midst of it all. Thanks for helping me with your opinions on my science question the other day. Very insightful!

I agree with Debbie, too. The new stage of our lives after the kids grow up is great, too.

Grandkids help us though remember where we've been and how fun it was.

Pink with purple dots...Haha! Got any pictures of that?

I guess when you stop to make a list of all the things you've been up to...turns out you're busier than you realized. Such is life...

Have a blessed weekend Janette!

Ethel is that totally crazy friend who is willing to try and do anything. She's there to "laugh" alot and even to cry when necessary. Ethel loves Lucy!!

Lucy and Ethel do crazy things together...like lie under a vehicle on a really busy street trying to start a car with a hammer! And then a policeman drives up and asks if he can help...but Lucy and Ethel just laugh and start the car!! Oh my, life wasn't boring then!!!

May everyone be blessed with an Ethel in their life! Ethel and Lucy also didn't put the hood down on the car when they started to drive away...glowing in their accomplishments they looked hysterical driving with the hood up and no view of the road...until they could stop laughing and pull it down...Love you Ethel!!!
