Foreshadowing Pictures, Words to Come

They say a picture paints a thousand words. So here is where I begin my words,  sharing my time with my "Ethel" by pictures.  The words are being processed in my head and heart to be shared later as they come together.

No grape stomping...but we did return to many sights and times of years ago...both in what we visited and our countless hours of talking.  Both visiting past history around the town and our own past history allowed us to start putting pieces back on each our unfinished life puzzles.

Marlin, Texas was once a booming spa town.  The mineral waters brought people from all over the world.  The walls of the local buildings portray the once vibrant city, which now struggles to survive.

Homestead Heritage is a community outside of Waco whose vision is to continue the arts and knowledge of past generations, through sustainable culture.  Our family visits their yearly Thanksgiving Festival.  I would love to go back and take classes in cheese and soap making.  We ate our dinner at their cafe.
Homestead Heritage...click to see the wonders of this community.

The dinner was wonderful...white tablecloths with flowers.  Our host and hostess at the B&B were a God-send.  This Christian couple's joy for how they served you just bubbled over.  Their obedience to the dream God gave them couldn't help but inspire us also to dream.  God truly hand-picked this place for us.

Bed and Breakfast on White Rock Creek...click and see this little treasure outside of Waco.  We stayed in the Savannah Suite.

Oh, no pictures of me....well, before I left I decided to color my hair.  My daughter keeps telling me I use the wrong color...so I took her advice...not always good.  My hair turned into "Witchy-Poo Black"...and I don't look good in black.  Lucy could have spent the trip with a bag over her head. Instead, I made sure I wasn't in any pictures!

I explained this before...I am Lucy only because I am the taller of the two of us.  We began calling ourselves Lucy and Ethel years ago because of some of our adventurous antics.

Now I must say...this trip placed a huge scoop of sand in my sand pail. The sand placed in my pail were inspiration, hope, renewal, spunk and meekness.  The puzzle pieces are coming together.

Great pictures! This looks like a really interesting place.

Oh, so glad you had time to get away and spend with a friend.
That would fill my pail too!
I talked with my Ethel today and we plan on seeing each in Sept.
Can't wait!

How FUN, Janette! Oh I mean Lucy! So glad you two girls got to do this and catch up! Looks like you got to do some fun stuff, too.

I know the place you're talking about - Elm Mott, Texas. My husband got a chance to go down there and tour that Homestead Heritage. I've always thought it would be fun to go take a class down there and learn how to do something old-timey!

It sure looks like Lucy and Ethel had a wonderful R&R. Can't wait to hear all about it!

So happy to see the pictures and hear a bit about your Lucy and Ethel adventure. I promise not to laugh at witchy-poo hair even if the description is funny. I once had an unfortunately hair color incident that is best described as topaz.

I'm going to click the link to the B/B now. Savannah suite, you say?

I see that word "spunk" you have been searching for!

Sounds like you are filled to the brim and overflowing!

I had a time when my heir was full on light pink! Oh my goodness.....ans I had to go to a BIG work related dinner with hubby that way,...I can laugh now, but I wasn't laughing then...haha.

It sounds like a wonderful time away with your friend despite the black hair. That can always be changed.

I clicked on your links. I love the Savannah suite. What popped out to me was the bathtub and the porch. Oh, how it would be so soothing to soak in that tub with sweet smelling bubbles. And to sit on the porch in a rocking chair with a hot cup of coffee.

I'm so glad you had this time away.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

Thankful WITH you for all that sand in your bucket...and sincerely bummed about your hair, girl! (But I'll bet it's not as bad as you THINK it is.....)

Can't wait to see the pictures and I'm laughing at Witchy poo black. I have my own hair issues. Looks like you had a great time!

Second story deck...sounds good...was it like being in a tree house? I know that you had a lot of fun with your friend. (None of us would ever have known that you had "witchy-poo" hair. And let that be a lesson to all of us not to always listen to the daughter. Ha!)

Looking forward to more from the sandpail.

Isn't it fun to capture memories with photos? Blogging only adds to the equation, not to mention sharing it with others.

Beautiful!

Glad you had a nice weeked with your "Ethel" Can relate to the hair thing...one of my solo jobs left me with blonde hair that had a greenish tint, One thing about hair you can always change it.

I am sorry but I 've done this before too so I was giggling a bit - but you see my roots come in darrrrrk brown and the other part of my hair fades to a rishish brown - I have a hard time getting it right.. oh and theres the gray too wink! I love to go see Marlin and Waco - as well as this HOmestead Heritage place - I am going to google it this evening..Lovely photos

Finally getting by for a visit... SO glad you didn't let your hair disappointment "color" your weekend. Sounds like the visit time was just what the two of you needed! I lived several years in Waco before leaving Texas. Will have to mention the B&B to my parents. Going to check it out right now...

Sweet friend I can't imagine you ever looking bad even with black hair. Mine changes colors everytime I dye it. ha! You should have had photos to remind yourself of this time and your black hair. :) I bet it isn't as bad as you think either. It looks like a wonderful place. Love the water mill too. So pretty. Glad you had a great time. Miss you. We need to plan another get together soon.

haha! I recognize your 'Ethel'!!! Glad you girls got to reconnect. I have been sending a flurry of emails to my bestest CO friend, Michelle, this week. Nothing like a good friend to talk to and sort thru the puzzle pieces that God hands us. So, so grateful.

What a good combination! "spunk and meekness" - seems like a contrast - but they can also be a good complement to each other. :)

Glad you had such a nice time.

I am so glad you had such a nice time. So now you have black hair? I have had black hair too. Red, and blond and all kinds of colors. :) Just go with it and have fun. I even had purple once. I love doing different hair colors, but now I am opting for my own color which has been nice.
I love that you have spent the summer doing fun things.
