Our family is walking through a grieving process this week. On Saturday two precious people were taken from this life. One was a lifetime friend of my husband. Their first pictures together are in the crib. They grew up in the same church, became room mates prior to marriage, sang together in a group they formed, recorded a Christian album. He sang in our wedding 34 years ago, and they worked together at the same company for years. Saturday he was taken before the throne after a battle with brain cancer. Their album was dedicated to the church where they all received their spiritual training. On the dedication was this verse - "I will sing of the loving kindness of the Lord forever; to all generations I will make known thy faithfulness with my mouth." Ps. 89:1
That same day, a cousin of my daughter-in-law was lost through a tragic accident. His short life of 31 years leaves a very big hole in the family. His life touched many with the joy of life.
God isn't afraid of our struggles or questions when things like this happen. David cried out and so did Job, yet we each have to walk out our grief. Each tragedy doesn't take away from the fact that God is still God and we are not.
My heart is heavy this week as I watch my love ones walk out their grief. I can't kiss the boo-boo away for my son and daughter-in-law, nor can grasp the loss of a husband to cancer.
I do know that God is good all the time and He is still God.
Ecclesiastes 3 New Living Translation (NLT)
A Time for Everything
3 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
a time for every activity under heaven.
Perhaps at no other time is it more difficult to trust in the Lord's goodness and purposes than when we walk the painful path of grief.
ReplyDeleteI share in your broken hearts, and in the utter dismay at the tragedy of death. And yet...and YET...we do believe and trust in a God who did something about it. He took away the finality and power of death - He stole away its victory.
In this, I also share in the hope that we have in Him. Though we grieve with earthly tears, we celebrate a wondrous homecoming for these dear ones that have gone on before us. And because we know that God is God and He is Good - we can rest in peace, literally.
GOD BLESS.
I'm sorry for your family's losses, Janette.
ReplyDeleteDoes sadness fill my mind?
ReplyDeleteA solace here I find,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Or fades my earthly bliss?
My comfort still is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Oh Janette I am so sorry to hear about this. No, it is NEVER easy, but we can find comfort in the knowing that our God knows our hearts and knows our grief and He cares for us. He gives us HIS peace which passes all understanding. He has defeated death and given us the hope of what lies ahead. Praying for His peace and comfort for all the families involved. HUGS

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for these losses, and for the grief of each family and friend who loved them. More than ever, at a time like this, we are comforted by the knowledge that He knows, and that his plan covers all of life and death. Still... it is hard, and I pray peace for each hurting heart.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read of these losses. How tragic to die so young. And yet He is God and He is good even when we don't always get to understand. He is at work in the midst of loss and sorrow. And only He can bring healing.
