You Are I Am!

This week has been long.  In the midst of the laughter has been tears of pain.  The struggles we face on this earth at times can cause us to forget who He is!  This week I know some people walking through some very hard struggles.  I even experienced times of hopelessness.

I haven't posted any songs in 2014 and music is such a part of my life.  I can tell when I am starting to go into a valley, because I usually stop listening to music.  Today this piece is posted to remind those who are walking through the valley that He is the I AM!

"You Are I Am"

I've been the one to shake with fear
And wonder if You're even here
I've been the one to doubt Your love
I've told myself You're not enough

I've been the one to try and say
I'll overcome by my own shame
I've been the one to fall apart
And start to question who You are

You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am

I've been the one held down in chains
Beneath the weight of all my shame
I've been the one to believe
That where I am You cannot reach

You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am

The veil is torn
And now I live with the Spirit inside
The same one, the very same one
Who brought the Son back to life

Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me

You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am

  1. Hi, Janette! Love the words to this song. I've been spending a while going back through your posts. Thank you for the laughter! :) I lose my car all the time! So thankful for the horn button on my key fob! LOL! I use it more than I care to admit! Loved the stairs quote, too!

  2. LOVE LOVE LOVE the words to this song...soo wonderful. I had kind of hard week too, and your right, sometimes life is just downright tough. The Lord has been working on my heart recently about surrendering. About being willing to really accept WHATEVER He has for my life. To really live every moment trusting Him, like I say I do. Not easy to do that's for sure. And just when I think I have it whipped, it's brought to my attention that I don't. Good thing our God is gracious, forgiving, and most importantly of all, loving. Don't know what's been going on with you, but I will lift you in prayer tonight. HUGS!!

  9. Sometimes "our" posts are more for "us" who write them, then those who read them.
But this one is for ALL of us.

Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

  10. I love this song and the truth of it. Wishing you peace in the midst of the storm. I've found in the midst of adversity to be thankful of what HE is going to do in my life through it is the BEST attitude. Blessings abundant!

  11. I can't find it to be sure I'm quoting it right, but I read SOMEthing like this earlier today: "Your biggest test is how you bless others while going through your own storm."

I think YOU are passing that test, Janette. Hope on!

  16. I could have written every syllable of this, and RECENTLY too.

I didn't think about it until you wrote the words in your post, but a sign that I'm in a downward spiral is that I step away from music too. Interesting.

  18. Tears of joy at this beautiful song. Just the words that I needed to hear today. We just buried my dad on Sunday, and I was never more aware of the fact that the Lord conquered death for us.

    He is...I AM...and I am blessed.

    GOD BLESS!

  20. SO good to read the words of this song. We differ in that when life it the hardest for me I find great encouragement by listening (and sometimes sobbing through) songs and hymns. And I usually post them on my blog because I hope that if it is a help to me maybe it will also be a help to someone who reads/listens to it.
