The picture just goes with my Lizard Tale.
I heard the painful sound in Benjamin's tone of voice. "Lizzy has fallen!!", he was screaming through tears of panic. Lizzy, or at one time his name was 10 o'clock, was in his hands. This lizard that was a birthday gift from his brother and fiance was limp.
A gecko leopard lizard.
What was I to do?
I calmly said, "just put him in his cage. What happened?"
The poor little lizard looked like it had broken it's neck and all four limbs were limp.
Through tears he was trying to explain how the lizard had fallen out of his hands coming down the stairs.
My heart started to break for Benjamin.
What was I to do? If it was dead, then what? I sure didn't want to touch the lizard.
I had been fine about the lizard from a distance..but up close or touching it ...NO WAY!
I started a conversation with God. "Okay God, what am I supposed to do? It IS his lizard!?!? Please...please don't let it die"
I turned to my little son and said, "let's pray for Lizzy." We held hands and started to pray for this
little creature he had learned to love.
As we prayed, the lizard lifted his head...oh good, it was alive, but the legs still were flat.
What would we do with a lizard with broken legs?
Benjamin is still crying about the whole thing and I am holding him saying I am sorry.
The lesson of being too rough is now learned, but this lesson might be too hard to accept.
Slowly, the lizards front limbs moved... but the back?... still totally limp.
We discussed how we need to be careful with such a little pet and how far that was for him to drop.
Benjamin had to have my phone. He texted his older siblings...Pray, Lizzy fell down the stairs!
Of course you can guess the replies were from the 20-somethings, no children, who commented back...
WHAT? WHO? The LIZARD? LOL
Now look back at the picture...
Lizzy came to in about 30 minutes and was up and walking around.
I guess it totally knocked him (or her) out...or ABBA Father God saw a little boy and his mother cry out.
Either way...it was God!
Today, I got up and was tired and wanting to sew while it was raining instead of cleaning other peoples' toilets.
I asked the Lord..."please, can they leave the house while I clean? I look like Lucy cleaning houses when the client is there. I trip over my vacuum cleaner, I drop things, it takes me twice the time because I get nervous. Please Lord, could you have them leave?"
I had hardly finished my small prayer when my phone rang...my client...she was going to be gone for the day!
He is in the details of our life. Even if the lizard had died... He would have been there. Even if my client had stayed home.. He would have been there. My ABBA Father just wrapped His arms around me and reminded me that He knows and He sees and He loves me.
Oh! my second client didn't work out...I got to come home early...and it started to rain.
I got in my sewing room and started my curtains.
My morning devotional... Oswald Chambers - The Concept of Divine Control
"...how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
Matt. 7:11
Delightful! I have also prayed those frantic prayers in my lifetime - once over a small hamster. And yes, God answered.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Lizzy recovered, and that a small boy's faith had a chance to grow a few more steps - (Mom's, too).
XO
we had a hamster come back to life once,
ReplyDeleteso i totally believe your lizard miracle. so
happy you didn't have to clean in front of
your client and that you got your sewing
time.
oh this is so precious Janette! I loved that picture too, and so many times that's what He has done for me, for us, and there is NO doubt, it's God, hearing and being kind in small and big ways. So glad your day included some things you love to do. I think of you so many times and am encouraged by your tenacity and go-get-em attitude, even when you would so rather be doing other things.
ReplyDeleteYay for Benjamin and Lizzy! Thank you Lord! :)
Sewing is something that feeds my soul, I can get lost in the process and come out revived on the other side. I pray your sewing does the same for you.
ReplyDeleteMy heart was sinking as I read about the lizard. Whew! Bless you for being the mom that every little child wants. A mom who loves, cares and is there for the good and bad times.
ReplyDeleteI saw that sweet picture on Pinterest too. This is so touching to hear again how our Father is in every detail of our lives. I have heard little birds in my hands that flew into our deck doors and seemed to have died. They got their breath back, opened those tiny eyes, and flew out of my hands alive! Bless Benjamin's sweet little kid heart! I love him...but not his lizard. I am thankful it's alive though. Is that a string tied to it??
ReplyDeleteLove you~
Loved the photo of your son and the lizard...is that a leash?? lol We have prayed for some pets in our day, I remember a certain hamster. God does care for the details in our lives but it's the details I so often neglect to pray about. Love seeing the faith of a child
ReplyDeleteDelightful story! God does care about the little things.
ReplyDeleteI also got a grin out of your doing better without your client in the home. I tripped over my vacuum cleaner hose so many times that one client started calling me "Trip." How humiliating! Either that or he'd ask if I were planning any trips. I should have prayed that he'd leave the house.
All I could think of as I read your words was your example of teaching Benjamin to go to God first with our problems..no matter how great or small....That one thing was probably the most important thing you could have done that day. But I do think it's sweet that God answered both of your prayers. Isn't He good how He takes care of every little detail...
ReplyDeleteplus you got to sew some...He says "Trust Him and He will give you the desires of your heart"....
So true and I am so thankful that you got to stay in the house in the summer on a rainy day and got to sew anyway. That is so nice the other client left.
ReplyDeleteOh Lizard stories, I am so glad the lizard survived. Yep that is by far the hardest part of parenting, I think.
Have a wonderful day.
Nothing like those "God moments" is there? Soo happy Lizzy pulled through! Benjamin looks soo sweet. Time spent on that sewing machine is hard to beat in my book. Glad you got to spend some time there! HUGS
ReplyDeleteRejoicing with you, Janette. There is NOTHING too small & NOTHING too big for our Father.
ReplyDeleteI'm hormonal this morning so please understand why this one made me cry (as in real honest to goodness tears on my face) instead of cheering. It is not a bad cry. It's a good one, but It's one that I just couldn't stop from happening and am not even sure I wanted to try.
ReplyDeleteGod is in the details.
Ahhh... this is the tale of WAY MORE than a lizard. ;) He is with us. This morning sitting in the dentist's chair about to have a numbing injection, I asked... to rest in His arms and overcome the nigh on irrational fears I have. He was faithful. I am grateful. It is in the everyday living that He holds us most. Love this post. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI've been working on a post about my own lizard tale but I confess it's not nearly as sweet as yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this awesome testimony to the goodness of our Heavenly Father and the love He displays through the smallest details of our lives.
Praise God for answered prayer!
Oh, thanks for sharing these with us. It's stories like these that help me to remember that HE truly is in the details of our lives, all of them!
ReplyDeleteThis was.delightful. Just the encouragement for His precious daughter. I often used the phrase "cleaning other people's toilets" when I was cleaning. I can really relate. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteFirst...I love love love this pic and the caption. Yep...it's was God thing. And loved reading about your son's lizard and it's healing. I think God really does look down and care about us so much.
ReplyDeleteoh how I LOVE that picture and also know it to be true in my life. I've had so many of those.."I know it was you God moments". He is so good to us.
ReplyDeleteI understand your reluctance with touching Lizzy. But he sure is a beautiful lizard.
♥Lee Ann
Happy that all worked out and especially that Lizzy is well!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Janette! I'm so happy that Lizzy lives!
ReplyDeleteWhen I cleaned houses I wanted to do it alone, too. It seemed like when someone was home, they found it necessary to ask for more and I had four hours and that was it. I was amazed at how often I started and finished on the dot!
Oh my goodness. You made me remember all the fancy BIG bathtubs and showers I cleaned. Thank you, Jesus, for my simple house.
I'm so glad that Lizzy was revived and is recovering. I can only imagine Benjamin's concern. That picture is the cutest. I'll have to check it out on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Debbie
It is so encouraging to hear a happy ending to a stressful story! Well done, Janette. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
