The Lord Delights in a Giggle

My High School and early married car....it got 50 MPG!!!

As I walked out to my daughter's rental car I grabbed the keys and said, "I am driving."  Within minutes of crawling into the drivers side of this compact car I was taken away from all the businesses of life.

This season of life holds more facets than I can process at times.  The joy of answered prayers along with the joys of the struggles have left me discombobulated.  I just can't seem to get all my ducks in a roll.  This is why I know my Heavenly Father delights in our giggles.

My world just fell away as I drove down the street with continued soul giggles.  My daughter didn't get it...I had left the planet emotionally.  I was in dream world.  I turned to her almost in tears saying, "I know this sounds so stupid.  I don't want diamonds, I don't need a trip to Europe, or fancy clothes, but every so often there is something that I really would enjoy.  I WOULD REALLY ENJOY a CAR like THESE!"  She thought I had lost it.  I promise you if I had the money the salesman at the local FIAT store wouldn't even need to try it would be SOLD!!

We jetted around town all day in this matchbox size car.  I U-turned in the middle of a six lane road leaving my daughter gasping for breath..."Oh My I am Going to DIE!"  I laughed that mischievousness laugh and replied, "I know how to drive little cars!"

My teenage years of driving were before my eyes.  If anything could make you feel years and years...well lets be honest, decades younger, this little car had.  My days of driving around my home city in a small compact car brought all my experience back.

My children have only experienced me behind a HUGE SUV...the larger the better for a our large brood, but now our family is smaller, I don't need a tank.  Do I need a small car like this...NO!, but wouldn't it be fun?

I think the Lord looks down and says, "My daughter needs to giggle....just give her the keys!"

Make mine RED with a sunroof and please put some eyelashes on her!

  1. How funny, I am feeling the same way, I get tired of driving around in a bus. I had a small car too but I don't know if I would go back.
I still need a bus to haul around all of the groceries. :)
I am so glad you had fun.

  2. Janette, I want a small car too! What fun. I totally get your giggles. I've always wanted the two door T-Bird. wouldn't that be fun! Convertible if I could! I drive a paid-for-eight-passenger-I-hate-it-station wagon. A large SUV is better! For a big rig, I covet my husband's truck. Long story how I ended up with the ugly station wagon...

I drove a VW in my early years.
Oh, to drive one again, especially to do those, "U"-ies.

  5. When I learned to drive my daddy bought a Cricket so I wouldn't smash the Lincoln. I understand how much fun a small car can be. I'd be standing behind you at the Fiat dealership!

Sometimes we do just need a little fun.

  7. We were just talking about getting a small car, too. We want an Accord or Camry but can't afford either at this time. Maybe a Civic is in order. Don't know for sure but we are so tired of our huge van though it has been trouble free for eleven years!
Enjoyed your fun post today!! Enjoy your girl while she is still close by.

  9. Grins and giggles coming from your FL friend over this post, Janette. Sometimes the least little things can delight our hearts, right?! And He knows right when we need those delights to come our way. Just let me know next time it happens so I can warn my other Denton friends ... hah!

Thanks for stopping by my little place on the web and encouraging my heart with your kind words.

  13. Oh, Janette!!! I laugh almost every. single. time. I drive my little mini cooper! I know exactly how you felt! LOL! Trading in my big old SUV for a tiny dose of freedom was a good thing. You may have a few more years before you can break loose, but you will love it! hugs ~ tanna

  14. I cried in the last post and giggled in this one.

Lady... your blog ought to be renamed Janette's Rollercoaster Ride.

(Is rollercoaster one word? It gives me a red squiggly line.)

  16. I so get this - reminds me of my recent dialog with my husband about our own vehicles. Mine would be a convertible. Oh, the freedom the open road does for a soul, and God made it that way!

  17. Giggling right along with you, I have secretly wanted a Mustang Convertible, or at least drive one. And oh! does He giggle right along with us. Thanks for the ride!
    Blessings,

  18. Memories of my very first car came rushing to my mind - it was a 1979 Ford Mercury Zephyr..and new and what was I thinking getting a New car at age 18 .. anyway this post also reminded me about a car I had enjoyed few years back it was a Saab Convertible car 2003 - navy blue body and coal black top -- and it was a sweet car on winding roads.. not so on long open road..
Oh the cars in between stories, stories.. Have a great day - I believe once in your life you gotta have that new new car..
    Hugs
