Yes! it was clogged!!!!!!!!!! The boys toilet.

For six days I attempted to unclog that thing.
I used the plunger!
I used the auger!
I even watched You Tube videos and followed all instructions
I put bleach in and let it stand.
I twisted the arms of my sons and hubby to try also....no one was winning this clogged fight.
I knew from day one what to do...don't we always?
But instead the job became a mountain and procrastination set in.
My home builder son said, "Oh!, NO mom don't do that!", but he wasn't living in the house with a clogged toilet.
So I got up..."took the bull by the horns" and pulled my resistant sons into the bathroom to conqueror the beast. They could use their strong muscles and I would direct the action to win this battle.
Yes we did...we took the toilet off the floor...we wrestled with the clogging substance and WON!!!!
Those dirty jobs we don't want to do usually are accomplished in only minutes. Yes, it took a whole 20 minutes to get it all taken care of and back into its rightful place.
Now is there a lesson here or what? January is still the beginning of the year. I am looking at the battle we won and seeing how the twist and turns caused the problem, but it was accelerated by procrastination.
Lesson learned....don't make a mountain out of a mole hill...stare it straight in the face and pull that hill down fast.
Okay, If I had a giant award I would give it to you right now. You took the toilet off??? That is the bravest thing ever. I find myself just cringing at the thought. I love your spiritual applications as I can always here the Lord the clearest when I was cleaning up some mess in front of the toilet. I will remember this. It really is a awesome lesson to be learned.

Unbelievable! Every time we take the toilet off we can never get it back on right. You win the home maintenance award. I am impressed, as well as embarrassed to tell you how many projects need to be taken in hand around here :)

ReplyDeleteHooray! You won! And not a plumber among you! I admit, I would have gone for the phone and the professional. But, we are not in possession of strapping young sons - though the young adults from church do meet here often enough. But, I already grabbed them for my basement re-fit last month so I used up all my man-handler points til March, maybe. Love the spiritual lesson - always one to be had - especially in the clogs of life!

YAY!! I am soo impressed!! I would have called the plumber, or my brother, haha...Though I was quite impressed with my hubby this week-end as our bathroom shower was just draining SOOOO slow. I hate that! And it was getting worse and worse. Anyway, he took it apart and used a snake and now is it draining perfectly!! When I think of how long we have been putting up with it...How we procrastinate!! Have a good day!! HUGS

Good for you! You won the battle. We have had to take our toilet off in our autistic son's bathroom more than once. He has put nearly everything down that toilet including a little football, tons of toilet paper, whole uneaten apples, and many small toys. Once after several days of working on one of the toilets my husband took it off and was walking up the drive with a new one when he dropped it on the concrete and broke it all to pieces. Oh joy! Of course we then had to buy another new one.

I think I needed to hear this today. I have my learning room that seems to be a catch all and I have to dig it out....again. We are moving the plant table in there and I want to organize my sewing area in there too. I have to get motivated to de clutter it ASAP so we can move the plant table. Never ending juggle isn't it? Thanks for inspiring me and encouraging me to... just do it and get it over with.

Wow... in the future I have heard dawn dishwashing soap works if you let it sit for a few hours. I can't even imagine taking the whole thing off the floor. You are a brave soul.

I am glad you had your sons handy for the muscle and weren't wrestling the stool yourself.
Sometimes we just have to do the job ourselves!!
Good on you. Most toilet bases I've seen are cemented to the floor which would be more of a challenge.
