We were hoping we were going to need one of these
google image Our anticipation and excitement grew as we saw this come over our house |
We ran out so we didn't miss this long awaited event. As the clouds covered the sky over our home the sun had to take a break from the scorching heat we had been under for months. We were two days from the record breaking 42 consecutive days of 100 or more degree weather held from 1980. We also needed those drops of silver refreshment to quench the drought ridden, cracked earth which resulted in dead grasses.
As Benjamin and I watched in excitement, Ben said in a matter of fact voice, "Well yes there will be rain. Dad prayed for it last night." I pointed to the divided clouds giving way to the glaring sun just over the horizon. "Dad asked for US to have rain." Somehow his little mind felt the answered prayers were for our yard only.
The clouds stopped our consecutive 100 degree weather. Friday took us back into the 100 plus degrees, but before we got back to 100plus, we went to discover our new neighborhood park.
How funny that your perspective can change on what is hot. We felt cool while playing in the high 80's and low 90's degree on the still summer day.
The re-fueled energy from the lower temperature gave me the desire to join Benjamin on the swing set. Allowing my legs to reach toward the sky in children's play on the swing....once again realizing that the life and the faith of a child are precious.
How long has it been since you have swung in a swing? You might try it again....I didn't jump out.
Happy 6th Anniversary to my son and daughter-in-law, we are so proud of you both and love you dearly.

Look what woke me up at 4 am.....yes RAIN! Benjamin will be so excited when he gets up.
It is still slowly coming down....slowly soaking the tired ground and refreshing our scorched land.
Happy 6th Anniversary to my son and daughter-in-law, we are so proud of you both and love you dearly.
Good morning! Mel got that storm too!! She said it just poured and poured at her house along with wild lightening and thunder...she loved every minute of it. I am glad you all enjoyed it, along with a little break from the heat. WOW, that's all a LONG spell of time of temp's over 100. I haven't swung in years...it does sound like fun...maybe I will today as I am seeing some of the grands for a while. : ) Have a wonderful week-end! HUGS
ReplyDeleteI am sooooooooo happy for you guys! I KNOW what it means to PRAY for rain. A few years ago we had a horrible drought and had a big forest fire just over the mountain ridge 7 miles away. Yes, those drops are sooooooooo precious indeed. I pray your ds remembers that his daddy prayed and the prayer was answered. PTL!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and ((HUGS))

I've got a friend in Texas who said that the other day an old Indian gentleman in his town did a rain dance in front of the courthouse and lo and behold an hour later it clouded up and rained. I guess a rain dance is sort of like a prayer.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Dear Friend!! We got it too-at 4 it woke two of my kiddos, Derek ended up sleeping on the couch were it was a little quieter since there are no windows in the living room and Analeigh came and got me and we went back to her room since she has a queen bed now. I loved laying there listening to it coming down. We needed it soooo bad. It rained a little bit across town the other day but it didn't hit here. We have only had one other day in 4 months with about an hour of rain and the last big time was on Easter-in April! Our poor grass looks like hay. I wished it was still happening and not thundering and lightning when they got up I would have sent them out to play in it.

Love ya

Ahhh, the faith of a child. It's wonderful to see the raindrops on the roses. Hope that it was a gentle and restoring rain. Such a summer you've all had!
ReplyDeleteI read this, and the two other previous posts as well. Such lovely blog entries, Janette. Rejoicing with you for the much needed rain - surely sent to reward the faith of a little boy. And surely a graphic lesson that God answers prayer.
ReplyDeleteThe Age Two Revisited was so heartwarming. What a great idea it was to take pics of all your children at age 2! The pictures are all beautiful!
And the post I really loved was the one entitled Killed With Kindness. Surely an angel helped you and protected you from hitting that little car... and yes, I am sure that God gave you the humility to apologize to that angry man. May your kindness shown to him be rewarded by helping that man seek Christ. May we see that man in heaven when we get there!
Your new hairdo is certainly worth every dollar you paid... you look so lovely.
Thank you for sharing of your heart. What an encouragement!
Love

Our perceptions are certainly changeable with the right factors. After extremely high temperatures, anything lower feels abundantly cooler, and rain, oh my the ultimate heat escape. I love listening to a slow rain. It is so soothing, the world smells fresh. Your descriptions were beautiful. I celebrate the rain with you and your family. Blessing, always, Janette.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some of our Pacific Northwest Rain.
ReplyDeleteWe've had enough to share with everyone.
I can so identify with you. It's been triple digit heat here in Phoenix for way too long. And working with little children who want to go outside to play makes it very challenging. Water breaks are a constant necessity.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I awakened early and smiled broadly when I noticed puddles on the back patio. I grabbed my cup of coffee and sat there listening to the drizzle. It wasn't a true rain, just a drizzle but I was still thankful for that blessing.
Love you,
Debbie
Such good news.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
The rain is making the rounds. We finally got a good soaking on Thursday. I was so thrilled I waited on the pation to make a video. I pray we don't have to wait as long for the next sprinkle.
ReplyDeleteGlad you've got rain and relief from the scorching 100's! A child's faith is indeed precious. We should have more of it, and swing with our legs way up in the air (which I actually did just yesterday evening). Blessings! :-)
ReplyDeleteJanette,
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful that you finally got some rain - and that our little guy will be encouraged by an answer to prayer.
Enjoy!!! Blessings to you - Marsha
Janette! More than 40 days in a row of over 100 degree heat?! Goodness knows, I would have ceased to step outdoors!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got rain! Every day of heat is one day closer to the cooler weather.....that's my mantra.
I'm following.
Glad you got some of the rain...... we need it as well!
ReplyDeleteFunny I look out the window as I sit here typing and I see rain!
Hope all is well Janette*
I love the faith of a child! God was so faithful to send rain.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Oh, how we need some of that silver relief!! Still no rain here. The big old oaks are dying all around. Everything is parched and brown... very sad. Glad you had a little reprieve! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you that you finally got some much needed rain. Maybe this is the beginning and more will come your way to soak the dry earth in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the anniversary!
ReplyDeleteAnd Benjamin - oh, how I love that boy's faith! I love his child-like faith that firmly believes that God will send rain at JUST THE RIGHT TIME!
If I could just remember that - to all things, a season when God will quench the burning heat of refining fires!
GOD BLESS!
Isn't it such a blessing when it finally comes after so long being elusive....We too are finally getting rain and and it so needed.....In fact, right now it's thundering, lightning and pouring down rain....Music to my ears and beauty to my site.......
ReplyDeleteI have swings for my grandchildren and ever once in a while I swing with them...so much fun...It takes me back to my childhood when i would swing for hours...
I hope you have a wonderful week coming up...
Hugs and blessings,
Nancy
Don't you just love the faith of a child? Glad you guys finally got some rain
ReplyDeleteWe were blessed with rain as well this weekend. That gave me a break from trying to keep my plants watered
oh and didn't it feel wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteGood for hubby and for Benjamin, for praying and knowing the answer was coming... there's a lesson here! :)
Keep praying guys, it's going to be 103 today...
xo
and Happy nniversary to your kids!
Congratulations. Rain on a scorched land is a much better reason to celebrate than record breaking heat!
ReplyDeleteAs for the swing. What a mama. I'm pathetic. When I try to swing high I lose my stomache. At least I give the kids a good laugh. That's worth something, right?
Happy Anniversary to your happy couple.
Blessings, Debbie
Yes! Yes! Yes! I am so glad for you! I have been praying for this and I'm not going to stop. Praise God for your rain!
