How Many Boxes Give-Away??????

photobucket image

Now it is time to have fun!  The boxes are stacking up all over the house.  The de-cluttering is still going on. The move is in the near future and  I have never had a give-away.  So here it goes.  I have very few rules for this give-away.  The prize has been endorsed by my Ethel (explanation on her at bottom of blog page) and I believe you will all enjoy the prize....of course it is a book, one of my biggest delights, and it brings about laughter, one of my life goals.  Heavenly Humor for the Woman's Soul - by varies authors including my favorites, Patsy Clairmont and Anita Renfroe.

Rules
  • You don't even have to be a follower or join as a follower....now that would be nice, if you would come back to see me another time and let me get to know you
  • You don't have to follow me on twitter - I do have an account but still don't know how to do it or have the time
  • You don't have to follow me on face book....I have that also but rarely get on it
  • You do have to enjoy the fun!!!  Only guess once!
Excuses the mess remember I am moving and have a five year old...which means he unpacks!!!
Answer the Question - How Many Boxes will it take to Move the Wright Family?

Now I am going to give you some hints to help you with this question.
    1. This house holds 31 years of marriage accumulations
    2. My husband is a non-recovering pack rat - now how many shirts/ties/shoes does a guy really need (I should give a gift for just guessing how many he has right now...hint - they will not all be going with us!)  He can rival  Imelda Marcos with his closet
    3. I have home schooled for 22 straight years...all the way up through four high school graduations and have many out-of-print treasures I am holding for - who knows, maybe grand kids, or just me
    4. I can fill a whole bookshelf with my own personal books (notice I didn't label myself as a pack rat)
    5. I sew/scrapbook/paint and cook - supplies needed for all
    6. There are two boys still living in our home - toys, electronics
    7. If I had to grab anything out of my house I would grab all my pictures of my six children....boxes!
    8. Our garage holds tools....things - in case we need them one day....no room for cars! I found a whole box of just caulk....you know for around the baseboards, bought when we were putting in new baseboards in our home (over five years ago)..got rid of them, don't count that box There are golf clubs that haven't seen the golf course in over a decade/ paint cans with 1/2 paint for my future projects
    9. Thanks to some of your wonderful posts I have been purging...but still have a box of VHS tapes (maybe after the move I can locate the commercial and post it...oh, my)
    10. Photos don't reveal all the boxes

Now let the fun begin.  I will announce the winner after I get adjusted to the new house...planning on the second week of July.
At that time I will also post the hand of God on this move and how He didn't give many options....only His direction.  All of this is just to give you a hug of appreciation for all your support in this last month of such unexpected changes and uncertainty.
Love you all so much....what a blessing this blog-sphere has been to me!!
    • How many boxes?????????????

    1. Oh I'll say 75. That's a lot, but since I have over 50 packed right now and I haven't gone anywhere... LOL!

All the best with the purging. Remember, if you don't need it or love it...

      Blessings!

    2. This is fun!
I'm going to guess... hummm...63 boxes. That's a total of big and small boxes.
Keep purging! I want to win.

      ReplyDelete
    3. Hmmmm. I'm going to guess 117.

      Good luck with the move!

    4. How fun Janette....Ummmm I am going to say....130 boxes, big and small, haha....My boxes when we moved filled entire rooms...wish I would have counted. (I'd have a better idea for your game) ; ) And I too live with a pack rat....I threw things out ruthlessly, and I STILL had more than I knew what to do with. I could stand another purging even though I haven't really bought much new since moving in. WHAT is all this stuff? haha....Have a wonderful day! HUGS

    5. 4,728!!

OK, no. Not really. I just really do love gross hyperbole, and for some oddball reason, that is the number I generally use when I want to say, "A big honkin' bunch of boxes."

My real guess: 77. It's random but "completely complete".

    6. Janette,
Yours is the best giveaway I've seen, yet. :) I love your sense of humor and the fact you don't require a million steps before entering. I'll sit back and watch these other lovely ladies guess for an opportunity to win, and may God grant you much peace and endurance as you make this move. Love and hugs!!

    7. Way to make fun from the ghastly act of packing!

Now don't let this scare you but I think everyone is guessing way too low and I'm shooting for 137. I'm really banking on the books, the crafting, and that garage!!

You've been a real blessing to me too. I enjoy your visits so much and I'm praying you through this massive move...

      hugs, Debbie

    8. After having moved like you are doing and the guy who picked up stuff I gave to good will and told me he had never seen a personal residence with so many boxes, I will put my number at 857 I do hope you don't have that many.

      ReplyDelete
    9. Love you and hope that moving is going well. Oh boy, the box thing, I had so many-and we were only married 11 years when we moved from AR to TX so I am guessing 121. Not sure why just a random number that sounded good. I still need an address when you have it so I can mail you this little goodie I found one day while shopping that reminded me of you.
Hope you have a great day.:)
      Hugs
      Jill

    10. Wow, you are busy packing. My guess is 127!

      ReplyDelete
    11. and I'm in at an even 125... you could shock us all and have 5 times that many!! :)

      ReplyDelete
    12. 310.
10 boxes for every year married!

      ReplyDelete
    13. I'm going with 104 because that's
the very first number that came
      to mind.
      God's grace and strength in
finishing up with all the packing!
      Love ya,
      Sandy

    14. I don't want the book ('cause I may be moving soon myself and we already have books), but I want to guess. I'm going to guess 183.

And, girl! If you actually take the time to count them, either you REALLY have problems OR you are extremely organized!

I've moved MANY times, but never even THOUGHT about counting the boxes. It would have been too depressing!

      ReplyDelete
    15. I am just terrible at guessing.

So, I'm going to say 101. No particular reason why - just looked good, all even.

We did a major re-model on our home about 2 years ago. It involved a major *purge* - I couldn't believe the amount of stuff we gave away to Goodwill. And we still have half a garage full of "yard sale" stuff. (I'm the non-recovering pack rat, by the way).

I think our junk *mates* in the middle of the night - it's like rabbits. Start with 2 boxes, and by morning there are 8!

      GOOD LUCK!

      ReplyDelete
    16. I'll guess 252. Those boxes fill up so quickly!LOL!

      ReplyDelete
    17. Oh I will guess 87 boxes. and good luck with trying to get your dh to give up some clothes. I once went through his clothes and boxed them in a open box and asked him to carry it to the car along with some other boxes, and lated found out that he put his in the garage, with plans to bring them back inside. LOl. needless to say they eventually found their way to the car. there are some things i will not bend on. LOL
I hope all is going well, until today have been off line for two weeks, just so busy and no camera,
      Hugs,
      Sue

      ReplyDelete
    18. I just reread my comment Janette, and realized it looked as though I was talking about your dh, but no it was my sweetie who did not want to part with those clothes, lol.

    19. 153. I know. I know. That's a lot! I just think I could fill that many! LOL! blessings to you, dear one, as you continue moving forward!! tanna

      ReplyDelete
    20. Good luck with your move! I've lost count of how many times I've moved!
      I say 225!

      ReplyDelete
    21. My guess is 167...just a random number. Boxes do fill up quickly so it could easily be more than that.

      ReplyDelete
    22. I will say 224....I should have some experience with this with all of our moves...good luck to you!

      ReplyDelete
    23. oh dear, i wish you didn't have to do this.
i pray that you will pack fewer boxes
than blessings and more boxes than
trials. i also pray that your joy will
increase as the boxes pile up.

how is that for a cop out? :)

      ReplyDelete
    24. I'm not going to enter, but just wanted to give you some hugs.

I can't wait to see the answer!

      ReplyDelete
    25. Hug to you. Praying for your strength during this time.

My husband is also a shoe and clothes hound. lol

      I guess 777 boxes.

      Love you.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Oh my, let's see...just for fun but not for the book because I have been decluttering forever and laughter is already my middle name, I'd say 89. BTW, I am serious that laughter is my middle name. I laugh so much that my friends gave me Isaac as a middle name. ;)

Get rid of EVERYTHING you can. A move is the perfect opportunity. Just don't tell them you're giving away their stuff which they have not looked at for centuries. If they suspect, claim amnesia or better yet, total disorientation due to their STUFF.

I'm glad the mourning doves are blessing you too. Aren't they cute?

      ReplyDelete
    27. I'm guessing 365. I'd like to say I came up with that number in a fun, calculating way, but I really have no idea how many boxes it would take to move. I've only moved 4 times in my life, and I had a lot less stuff back then.
      Purging is a never-ending job, isn't it?
      Blessings,
      Marcia

    28. Janette, thanks for not making it a requirement to be a follower before anyone can join this giveaway.

My guess is 144 boxes. That should be enough for your 31 years of married life.

Looking forward to your story. I was struck that you said God didn't give you too many options, only directions.

      Love
      Lidj

    29. LOL, no need to send me a prize, but I'll take a stab at your challlenge question. Having just finished with all of OUR boxes, I'm guessing you're going to need over 300. And boy are my hands ever sore... are yours?

      Hugs, e-Mom

      ReplyDelete
    30. I'll take a guess at 350...but hoping it's not that many!

      ReplyDelete
    31. The thought of even counting all those boxes seems a little overwhelming to me. Thirty one years equals an awful lot of stuff (I think of my own house and just cringe at the thought) I am going to say 275 and hope I am wrong
      Blessings

      ReplyDelete
    32. just checking on you. nothing new at my place.

oh, i love the "hawk and the dove", too!
i pray your move is going well.

      ReplyDelete
    33. Oh,how I've missed checking in on my wonderful blogging buddies, but just no time since my Dad's illness. I'm going to say 146 boxes. I would hate to know how many boxes it would take to pack us up for a move. Scary! :o) Blessings to you as you go through this move.

      ReplyDelete
    34. I'm a veteran mover. At Wal-Mart in the office/shipping supplies they have a hand held roller of suran wrap. It is the BEST for stablzing boxes, and packing/padding odd shapes, etc. when moving. Check it out. My guess, 375 boxes. Good luck!

      ReplyDelete
    35. Okay I will take a stab in the dark 777 boxes. [o= Hey if it isn't anywhere near correct may it made you laugh and relieve some stress of moving.

      Blessings and ((HUGS))!

    36. Oh goodness; I'm HORRIBLE at this stuff. But having moved four times in ten years, I know it'll be a LOT! The number I'd have selected is already chosen, so by all means don't worry about including my entry. Just know that I wish you much energy (and a great sense of humor)!

P.S. I am still laughing about the 310 vote. I sure hope not!!

      ReplyDelete
    37. Oooh, I'll guess 160! Wishing you strong, helping arms to lift boxes and give warm hugs!
      Happy Independence Day!!!

    38. I'll guess...163 boxes...I should be able to figure this out, we've moved 12 times in our 35 years!!

      ReplyDelete
    39. Hoping all is going well with the move. Just stopped by to say hello.

      Enjoy your 4th.

      ReplyDelete
    40. God bless you, Jeanette, for maintaining such a great attitude. We haven't even found a house yet, much less are we in "moving mode" and I already have the heebie-jeebies.

You are a trooper and an example to the feint hearted among us (me). :) .... Marsha

      ReplyDelete
    41. Well, Janette, having moved not that long ago myself, it takes more boxes than I care to mention. I'm not going to guess, but I did want to comment. I hope you have a smooth move from one abode to another and I am looking forward to hearing how God directed your path to where He wanted you to be. And, here's to the lucky winner!

      ReplyDelete
    42. My guess is 321 . . . blessing on your move and my favorite part . . . settling in.

      Fondly,
      Glenda

    43. I know I am late on getting in on this one. But I will say... 150.

      ReplyDelete
    44. I was going to say 150, too, but I will say 160 AT LEAST! Yikes. Janette...Do you need someone to come help you purge??? I"m really, really good at it! :)
